Menu landing page

I have a primary menu set up at the top of my static home page, above a slider feature and a featured content layout. When I click on one of the menu items (for instance, "Contact Us"), the navigation doesn't just take you to that page... instead it places the "Contact Us" page content below the slider and content features. So you have to scroll way down to the bottom of the page to view the Contact Us info that you just clicked on. Scrolling down is not something that is intuitive for users to do when they've clicked on a menu item. Is there an option I need to change? I'm not technical at all, so don't really want to alter css if I don't have to. thank you
