Menu Items

Hi there, short question for help regarding the behavior of the click-and-feel of the menue-buttons; I'm using categories as menu-items and (i. e.) pages for sub-menues. Now I'd like to supress any action (forwarding) when clicking on a main-menu-button; all action should be generated by using the sub-menues... Is there any way to "de-activate" the routing when clicking on the main-menu-button? Or do I have to use other elements than categories as main-menu-items to be able to supress any clicking-action??
