Make featured content not link (or control link)

Is there an option in the theme to control the link of featured content (and other posts) on the home page? In other words, I am using a shortened post (v. using a page, or a truncated full length post) in both the sliders at the top and on other sections. How can I either turn off the linking back to the original post, or point them to where I need them to go (the full length post). thanks!
