Line Breaks – P tags in page/post body

Hi, I am seeing extra lines between paragraphs after adding content to pages and posts. Looking at the code on the public side, there appear to be a lot of p tags (but not line breaks) added. Is this a function of the theme? It's late and I might be missing something, thanks! Jeff
