increase menu width in desktop mode

With a resolution of 1280x800 the search symbol of my menu will be rendered in the next line. Is it possible to make the div of the menu a little bit larger, so that all items are in one line? I think i need just a few pixels more width. A second possibility could be to switch earlier to the mobile menu. How can i achieve this?
