Images disappearing

Greetings! The images on random pages have disappeared, a music media file on one page disappeared and the post slider is not functioning properly. I manually replaced many media files last night but there appears to be a bigger issue. Is all of this happening because I haven't installed the recent update? Thanks, Michelle
