Image caption on featured image on frontpage

Hi there I'm trying to get an image caption for a featured image on the frontpage. While inside the post the caption works well it does not show for the featured image on the frontpage. Does anybody know any tricks or maybe a plug-in? Thanks a lot and kind regards, André
