How to set own Featured Content and Featured Slider?

Hi I do the following: Appearance > Customize > Featured Content > Select Content Type=Featured Page Content Appearance > Customize > Featured Slider > Select Slider Type=Featured Page Slider and I SAVE and PUBLISH But I can not figure out how to add my own featured content and own feastured sliders. Where and how do I do that? Thanks
