How to set a Homepage as my Static Page w/o post slider

How do you change the home page? Is seems fixated by a link whereas my featured image is in the slider and my post image-- which are the same is below the featured image slider. How can I have a home page showing only the featured images slider plus additional content? If I disable the slider post from the home page under theme options, my home page will show the featured images and below it a search box that always states Nothing Found. If I choose to have just a static front page, I don't have the option to select the Home page. The only thing that appears is my blog post page with the image.
