How to remove post date from excerpt

Hi, I was just wondering, is there a way to remove the date stamp of a post from the post excerpts on my website's front page, so that the date of the post only shows up in the full post? If so, can I move the date to the bottom of the post or will it always show up at the top? Thanks Jeff
