How-to permanently disable the pink menu bar in the header area

Hi Sakin, we want to configure the chicago theme in the following way: A menu of static pages in the footer1 area No Menu entries and now pink bar in the top of the page. Is this possible without crating a child template ? How can I achieve this. Until no I could disable the pink bar, but as soon as I create a new menu with some entries in the footer area the top reappears. Regards Mike
