How to embed featured image in post?

The featured image as it appears alongside a post on the home page is perfect. When the individual post is viewed, the featured image appears on TOP of the post, centered. Is there a way to embed the featured image in the post --- when viewed individually? Thanks for your theme ...it is really an outstanding job!
