How to change number of recent posts on Homepage

Hi, it seems that the theme has a default setting of 10 posts for the homepage. How can I reduce it to 3, for example? I also tried customizing what shows by creating a choosing under Categories (Customizing --> Theme Options --> Homepage/Frontpage Options), but it looks like Seriously Simple Podcasting doesn't support Blog Categories, so I have to choose [All Categories] for the podcasts to show up. I would really appreciate help around this, whether by changing the number of Recent Posts to show on the homepage, or to somehow use Seriously Simple Podcasting with Blog Categories.
