Homepage Message Background Color

Hi Sakin, Can I get the custom CSS to change the background to the Homepage-Message? I tried,

/* Promotion Headline Color */
#homepage-message h2 {background-color: #123455; color: #404040;  }

but only the background color behind the text changed. I am afraid I am not good at this. Thanks in advance.
