Home Page Latest Posts Size

Hi Community, I am wondering how to do three things: How can I reduce / shrink the size of the latest posts on the homepage? The images are cropped. No matter what I do it doesn't seem to help. Where do these images come from and can I manually set them? Can I completely disable these and only have the base hero page? Apologies in advance as I don't see a way to upload images.
