header

i use the slider on the homepage and i would add a white header with a logo on pages and homepage with the slider. the default dimensions of the header is too hight, how i can reduce this hight ? what could be the dimension of the header picture ? i tried 1920X200px and 1920X300 px and it doesn't work.. it will be ok with the slider and pages ? thank you
