Google Site Verification

Hello, I am trying all day long to verify my site. I go to Appearance>Theme Options>Webmaster tools and paste google ID number witch is (xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx) <meta name="google-site-verification" content="xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx" />. Then go to google webmaster tools and press verify, but nothing happens.  How to verify my site?
