Getting started

Hi, I'm completely new to this. Wanted to understand how I can change the two pictures & text (I'm assuming they are called sliders). Also, can I change the background that is currently white on my page? Also, those 3 boxes/pictures I currently have, is there a way to put a flier/picture there and when I click on it, it will take me to another link in my site.
