font awesome icons in menu?

I have a plugin called Font Awesome 4 menus, which shows a font awesome icon in the menu tab when you add a class to the menu class filed, e.g. fa-home This works well on other themes but does not show on this them. Do you know why this might be not working? Or is there some other way to have an icon in the menu? Thanks
