fixed header top

I've chosen the Fixed Header Top menu. 1. I've added this css to my child theme styles: #header-menu { display: none; } Is that too kluge-y? (= unelegant?) 2. The clickable area on the menu items is too small, and isn't centered right where the menu text is (it's a bit lower). What should I do about that? Thank you, I love the theme.
