Fix Typos in Social Links/Add Instagram

I wanted to fix the title of the Flickr and Vimeo social icon (it currently reads “Flicker” and “viemo”) and also change one of the unused ones to an Instagram icon- I copied down the inc/widgets.php file from the main Catch Box theme and put it into my child theme, made the mods but they don’t seem to show? Is this not the proper place to make these mods? Thanks in advance...
