fitting images in featured content row

so i want to fit 1280X720px images for my featured content images because it looks better on the actual page/post but in the featured content row on the home page the images are getting cut off. is there a way that i can fit the whole image in those preview row columns? and also is there a way to reduce the left and right margin for the featured content rows and columns? thank you - cal chan link: www.calchandesigns.com
