First blog post on homepage in blog style

Hi, I can't figure out how to make the first / most recent post on my homepage appear in blog style with a title, large picture and excerpt? I only want this style for the first / most recent post with the remaining posts underneath staying how they are with featured thumbnail images and excerpts.
