Featured slider – for posts?

Hi there, I understand how the Featured Slider works with Pages, but is there a way to use the Slider for Posts? I'd like to feature posts that I know will get buried by newer content. There is the option to upload a Featured Image to a Post, but it does't feature in the slider. I'd also like to feature posts, not pages, in the Featured Content.
