Featured Slider does not cover the menu area

Hello, I am new to Wordpress. I am looking at the demo of The Rock Star free theme, and I see that the Featured Slider covers the menu area, but in my environment the Featured Slider begins below the menu and the menu is black. Can someone please explain why? Thank you very much! Best, Alex
