Featured Content Section

Hi, I just installed the free Helena theme, and I've gotten pretty far into working with it, but when I tried to put my page content into the Featured Content section it didn't work. By didn't work I mean the title and text beneath it updated but the page content and images never loaded. After trying to save it and go back and edit the customization menu disappeared. It left me with the option to disable and enable it, but enabling it doesn't load anything. I've added a few edits to the css, mostly changing the link hover colors and removing the titles and content from the slider images. Any help would be appreciated. I really like the theme and would consider buying the pro version if I can get everything I like about it to work. Thank you.
