Featured Content is not showing

Hi, My featured content and images are not showing. I ready the instructions a million times and followed the instructions a million times as well. Through my dashboard went to "appearance", "customize", "featured content". I chose 3 columns layouts and selected content for featured post content and nothing happened. I also have my featured images in the posts. What am i missing? Thank you for your help! Kelly P.S: My site is not live yet
