Featured Content "Add Image" Button won't work

I am trying to add images to the 4 columns of featured content I created on my home page. I click the "add image" button and it becomes outlined in blue, but nothing happens. I've read this theme relies heavily on "featured images." Do the linked pages i've attached to the featured content columns need to have a featured image to select, or is there another issue going on here. Thank you
