Feature image slider & Safari browser: how to make 1st image appear immediately

On the homepage of my website http://www.vanwulfen.com I use the Featured Image Slider to display a selection of images. No matter what option I select under Image Loader (True / Wait / False) it takes approximately 7 seconds before the first image is displayed when using Apple's Safari Browser. Chrome and Firefox (MacOS) work fine. How can I ensure the first image is displayed immediately when using Safari?
