Excerpt Layout with pictures?

Hi, when I switch from Full Content Display to Excerpt Blog Display pictures are no longer displayed in the blog. Is there a way to have the Posts displayed with the shortend text and the photo? I know that I can add a "more-Tag", but this is not what i'm looking for :-) Some of my authors are really noobs! My idea is to have the posts looking like in the Full Contend mode but with automatically truncated text. Regards Bernhard
