Essential Content Types

I read in your guide that I should be able to CRUD services in the ECP but while I can nav to ECT->Services when I get there all I see is "Service Archive Title" with a text area and a image placement for Featured Image. I understand from the guide that I have to "install" ECT, but given that I can get that far I assume that it is installed. But I fall short of being able to set up the services according to what the guide implies. It looks like I have changed one of them in the past but I don't know how I did it. If I go to Theme Options->Services I can control the columns etc but I continue to struggle with editing the options available to the drop-downs in that area. Pls advise. Thanks! -mike
