Eliminating White Space on Side and Under Graphic

I went ahead and purchased Catch Base Pro (I had been using Catch Box Pro.) I like it a lot. Just a few questions. My site is here: premium.talkleft.com 1. I disabled the menus and the site title at the top of the home page. I substituted my header graphic. How do I get rid of the white space under the header graphic and before the start of the site material? 2. The site shows fine in preview mode but the actual display has some extra white space on the sides of the header and content. The header and content don't quite stretch to the margins. How do I fix that? 3. Has something changed with the favicon and web clip files? In catchbox pro the favicon was "favicon.ico" but that just shows up blank in the media gallery using catch base pro.
