Does the search run twice?

Hey guys, I'm using Relevanssi (a plugin to replace the internal WordPress search for better results) and having a problem: The search words are counted twice. This is shown in the statistics of the plugin. Search for "buddy", the statistic says, the word "buddy" was searched twice. Search again for "buddy" and it says four times. Again, six times. And so on... However, I asked the plugin author. His answer: "Your site probably runs every search twice. That may happen, if the theme templates are written that way." So, any suggestions?
