Do I add meta description to logo URL?

HostGator just sent an email saying my meta description is missing. I have WP SEO by Yoast, which has me input a meta description with every post & page. It seems that the site itself needs a meta description, which should go into the header. ?? Am I understanding this right, and if so, where do I insert it? Thank you for helping.
