Creating lightbox effect with main page

Hello - I am looking for a suggestion on having the 3 picture windows (below the slider) have a lightbox.js type of effect with either a mouse over or click event. I have read in the WP codex that you can use <?php wp_enqueue_script..... ?> but I'm a PHP novice so its a learning curve. The Jet Pack plug in has a similar effect I am looking for, but I don't know how to incorporate that into what I want to do. Thanks for any help!
