Convert blog page to show excerpts

Hi, I inherited this site and theme and was wondering how to update the blog landing page to only show an excerpt of each post. Permalink is using custom structure /our-blog/%postname%/ I saw in the customizer where I could edit how many words are displayed but not sure how to enable it. http://jlwlawoffices.com/our-blog/ Thank you!
