Child Theme Problems on Home Page Gridalicious Pro

I did some modifications to the original gridalicious pro, but I have to make changes every time I update, so I created a child theme using a plug-in. It works fine for the most part, but the home page has issues. I had the home page not showing excerpts, but rather the whole page. It reverts to excerpts in the child theme. I had removed "posted in" and disabled the comments, but both are back in the child theme. The comments are disabled in the customizer. The layout options are identical to the parent theme, including Show Full Content in the archive setting. I have tried additional CSS that I copied and pasted from this forum, but it does nothing. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I really need to update the theme, but I can't until I get the child working properly. Thanks
