Changing Pagination Colors

I am using the Chicago Pro theme. It is perfect for my blog. However, I am having trouble changing the pagination colors, particularly the hover and background colors. I tried to change them through the customizer to white: saved, cleared catch and nothing. Maybe I am doing something wrong but it seems to be set on the default for the "light" colored theme.
