Change logo shape and size

Hi there, I basically want to get rid of the circle logo and replace it with my client's company logo which is in the format of companynameIMAGEcompanyname. Everytime I go to select the logo to upload, it crops it to a square. I just want to use a standard rectangular shaped logo. Also can I change it to stop it being a circle also. Help please.
