Centering an image

This seems like such a rookie thing to do, but for some reason it's not working for me... I have a text widget in a Footer Area 1. In that text widget, I've placed an image. I want to center that image. The CSS I'm putting in to Appearance > Editor doesn't seem to be having any effect. Any suggestions?
