Category not shown in posts?

Hi there, on post pages, the category (link) does not appear in the entry footer, if the post has got only one category. Only the tag (link) is visible then. Is that intentionally? When looking into the core PHP file, I recognised that the categories will show, if there is more than one. Is there a reason for that behaviour? Thanks in advance, Erik
