Can't figure out how to get social links to display

Apologies up front - I'm a noob at this. I've added my facebook and twitter addresses to "Appearance/Customize/Social links" and published. Then I added the "CT: Social Icons" widget to the top of my sidebar. I gave it the title: "We're social too!" and published. The title shows up, but there are no icons or anything with the links to my facebook and twitter accounts. Any ideas for me?
