Can’t change header pic

Hi, Im sorry for this probably stupid question, but I can't get rid of the template picture in the header of all pages. I have uploaded new header pictures and chose them, but when I look at the page the template pic is shown instead of my chosen pic. I just realisesed that featured images on pages or post aren't showing as well - its always the template pic showing. And if I deactivate the header content on the whole site, the template picture is still showing. Can someone please help me? What have I missed?
