Cannot remove search icon

Hi there, I want to remove the search icon from the menu. I tried this: https://catchthemes.com/support-forum/topic/remove-search-button-table-border/#post-179269 but then on my moble device (ios, safari) the complete menu is removed, not only the search magnifying glass. How to fix this?
