Blogs, Featured Content

I am new to most of this. I am finishing up a fairly simple site, using Clean Enterprise Free. When I author a post, it shows up at the bottom of the homepage. I am not using static pages. It seems that they should show in Featured Content and then full blog would be on my Blog page. I cannot find a setting that makes this happen. If I use a static homepage, then the blogs can be assigned to the blog page. Thanks to anyone for some assistance! Mike
