Blog Posts on Homepage

Hi, I have set up a Static Page for my Home/Front Page and set up Featured Slider connecting to my Pages. I would like to display a summary of my latest blog posts on the Home/frontpage. I don't mind just a featured image, excerpt would be nice. I would like them to come up automatically newest first. I cannot see a way of doing this. I had it on my previous theme but cannot find it here. All the options like "Course" etc are based on fixed items. Any suggestions?
