arabic number in editor

HI, I am using this theme to develop a website with English and Arabic versions. All is well except I cannot type in Arabic numbers in the editor. I have set regional language and keyboard to Arabic but numbers are still coming out as roman numerals. Is this a theme issue or a wordpress setting/change that is needed? Trawled the WP forums but nothing helps. Appreciate your advice. Regards, Rod
