Altered PHP-Lost Everything

Ok, my fault I'm guessing.. I have no child theme or backup... I inserted a 'functions JS' for a dropdown menu (other than a WP plugin) in 'functions php' of Catch Adaptive pro and lost everthing. This was the fourth time this happened and I'm just wondering why this is happening' I tried copying the functions php from another CA pro site I had but to no avail.
