Adventurous theme, Gutenberg Grid and Excerpt text

As the title says we have a problem with the excerpt text shown for posts placed in a Gutenberg grid with the Adventurous theme. The problem is that the text is "all run together". The initial text of the posts is a few short lines - with line feeds between them. The text then shown in the excerpts removes the line feeds and does not even put a space character in so the text becomes confusing and meaningless. It is not clear whether this stripping of line feeds is done by this theme or by the underlying Gutenberg grid itself. Do you know and is there a solution?
