Adventurous Slider Text Color

Having changed from Kathmandu theme to Adventurous my text on the slider images no longer stands out due to color issues against the picture background. I am struggling to add custom CSS to change the text color and maybe add a shaded background to the text. Could you provide an example of what code is needed?
